Construction technology startup HeadLight announced a $25 million investment round from Viking Global Investors to help scale its photo-based inspection software.

The company, previously known as Pavia Systems, sells mobile and desktop applications that allow workers to speed up data collection from construction sites by documenting projects with on-site photographs and video, replacing the traditional method of pen and paper. Customers include State of Louisiana, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, and Jacobs Engineering.

Pavia spun out of the University of Washington in 2005 and is led by George White, Si Katara, and Steven Velozo. The company originally started selling online training materials to clients in the transportation industry, but pivoted to develop on-the-job tools.
