Data centers, critical for modern digital life, are typically utilitarian, windowless structures. However, some projects are redefining their architecture, merging functionality with aesthetic design. As seen in Kengo Kuma’s Gak Chuncheon data center in South Korea, these facilities are incorporating environmental elements and architectural vision. With the rise of data centers worldwide, architects are pioneering a new typology, transforming these often overlooked structures into architecturally significant spaces when given creative freedom.
