WeWork Expands Boston Presence With Another Seaport Location

The coworking wave continues to flood Boston.

WeWork will open its 10th Boston location at One Seaport in the city’s Seaport neighborhood this winter. The coworking giant, a rapidly growing presence in Boston’s office community, will open the newest location on the second floor of One Seaport at 77 Sleeper St.

“In the last year, the Seaport has reached a tipping point, becoming a magnet for tech and innovation companies,” WS Development Vice President of Leasing Todd Norley said in a prepared statement. “WeWork One Seaport will not only bring one of the world’s most interesting companies to the district, but it will also greatly enhance the neighborhood’s ecosystem, attracting diverse entrepreneurial businesses of all shapes and sizes.”

The newest location is near WeWork’s Fort Point branch at 51 Melcher St. as well as the coworking company’s original Boston location at 745 Atlantic Ave. WeWork has plans for four new locations in 2018: One Seaport, Congress Square, 33 Arch St. and 501 Boylston St. By year’s end, the company will be close to occupying 1M SF in the Boston area, according to Colliers International research. The latest expansion comes after a report the coworking brand has more sublease space on the market in Boston than any direct landlord.

"The Seaport District has emerged as an innovation hub for businesses in Boston and our newest space will be an amazing addition to our Boston portfolio,” WeWork Northeast General Manager Dave McLaughlin said in a prepared statement. “With One Seaport, WeWork members will have access to a wealth of amenities that are developing in the area including retail, dining and residential options.”
