Verizon unveils ‘Next Gen’ store in Bryant Park

Verizon is unveiling its “Next Gen” store at its Bryant Park location on Friday.

The reconfigured retail outlet, located at 125 W. 42nd St., seeks to integrate the wireless company’s in-store and online shopping experiences.

“Customers can start their shopping paths online and then move it to the store if they want to touch and feel the product, ” David Weissmann, Verizon’s spokesman for the Northeast market, told The Post. “Or vice versa.”

Verizon said it will open nine “Next Gen” stores in Manhattan — each with four distinct shopping areas that it calls regions:

  • Basics — a grab-and-go area for common supplies.
  • Guided — an area offering staff assistance and in-depth demonstrations.
  • Collaborate — a communal space where friends and family can experiment with the latest technologies.
  • Discovery — a tech-forward area with the latest devices, including virtual reality products.

The overarching vision, Verizon said, is to provide something between a convenience newsstand and a community bookstore that offers fast checkouts for its increasingly digital-first customers.
