Remote workers from start-ups and well-known companies will soon have a space to work in the Mall at Short Hills.

Industrious, a coworking space with over 65 locations across 40 cities, makes its New Jersey debut in late 2019 in the 30,000-square-foot former Saks Fifth Avenue department store.

Industrious’s other mall location in Scottsdale, Ariz. completed occupancy in only 10 weeks. This is New Jersey’s second mall-located co-working space after the 1776 location opened in the Cherry Hill Mall in January. It’s part of a broader trend of mall developers filling retail space with non-traditional, experience-oriented tenants.

“Industrious joins our lineup of more than 40 tenants in The Mall at Short Hills that are unique to the state,” said Jamie Cox, the mall’s general manager. “It’s a testament to the strength of the shopping center, but more importantly, curates a unique tenant assortment that is one of the many ways we keep the shopping center fresh and appealing for our loyal customers.”

As a flexible workspace provider, Industrious can accommodate teams of up to eight. The space has conference rooms, common spaces, phone rooms, and a wellness room; and members are treated to amenities like artisanal coffee, fresh fruit, and unlimited printing.
