Starbucks is set to open its first-ever 3D-printed store in Brownsville, Texas, marking a bold step into sustainable and experimental construction. Partnering with Peri 3D Construction, the coffee chain has built a 1,400-square-foot drive-thru-only location featuring exposed, layered concrete walls and minimalist signage along Boca Chica Boulevard.
The store’s shell was printed panel by panel, with windows and doors framed between the concrete segments. The structure features a flat roof, a pergola over the drive-thru, and signature Starbucks branding fixed directly to the textured exterior.
Expected to open on April 28, this project places Starbucks at the forefront of retail design innovation and highlights Texas as a growing hub for 3D-printed architecture. The state is also home to residential and commercial builds by firms like ICON and BIG, as well as experimental projects like the 3D-printed El Cosmico Hotel in Marfa.
The Brownsville store reflects a broader trend of tech-enabled construction, and adds a futuristic flair to a city already known for its proximity to SpaceX’s launch site—just 45 minutes away.
