Stealth Communications has been in business for over 20 and is still independent so founder, Shrihari remembers all too well what is is like as a startup! Stealth Communications empowers the CRE tech space. They provide infrastructure, specifically fiber optic Internet connections to businesses throughout NYC. All the new systems are increasingly reliant on super-fast, reliable connections, to manage building operations systems, for example.
Alex Markson is a Technologist and a Creative. Talk about starting young! He launched his first successful startup when he was 12 and it was the top game of it’s type on the Internet, before the Web had even come out. He’s had a lot of successful firsts like building social networks and blogs before people even knew what they were and he began teaching at University when he was 18.
I had the opportunity to catch up with my good friend Rich at Reonomy and if you haven’t checked out his site, you’ve been missing out! Rich’s background includes launching and running numerous businesses including an international arbitrage textbook company, a college marketing network, and an offshore technology outfit.
Vijay and his team at REthink are doing some really great stuff! I recently had the opportunity to connect with his and talk about an amazing product! REthink is the leading CRM and deal management platform built on Salesforce.com and designed to help CRE brokers close more deals.
I am a huge, huge fan of Co-Working spaces. Have seen a lot of them. If I am ever looking for space again, I am definitely going that route. And if I was looking for space in Atlanta, I know where I would look first…SharedSpace. Michael Everts with serial entrepreneur and long time real estate leader, Dan Levison are doing some super cool stuff in the Co-Working sector.
I friggin love what Jason and his team are doing at Realstax. It’s one of the smartest sites I have seen to date. Realstax retransforms the way brokers and tenants find office space using software to turn tedious paper binded property pitchbooks into a digital, interactive and measurable experience.
It’s impossible to not to like Michael Griffin!!! He was one of the first people I met in the sector and has remained a good a friend since. He attends and supports ALL of our events at CREtech.com. He’s the guy in the front row listening, taking notes, continually learning and studying. And if there is a more networked guy in the industry I haven’t met him!
I have known Michael Mandel since I entered the commercial real estate tech space with my first site, The New Funnel. Probably around 2011(ish). It was obvious from the get-go that Michael was going to be successful. He was smart, came from brokerage and had a big friggin idea…bring transparency to the lease comp side of the business. In Michael’s mind, everything should be open and transparent and NOT behind walls or left to one company to control everyone's data. And clearly, he has accomplished his goals and so much more.
Few startups have been as successful as Buildout, THE end to end marketing, listing and property information site. I am a huge fan of theirs and their CEO, Vishu Ramanathan. And obviously I am not alone. Just check out who is using the site…Cushman and Wakefield, SVN International, Avison and Young, Colliers, Coldwell Banker Commercial and virtually every leading brokerage firm in the industry. Why? Because they understand the broker marketing process as well as anyone in the industry. Just ask TCN Worldwide how they view Buildout…
NYC-based, Mark Smukler and Alex Ohebshalom are exactly the type of young entrepreneurs we need to be attracting to the commercial real estate tech space. As I wrote recently in my Q and A with Diane Danielson of SVN International, attracting young people to the commercial real estate industry is paramount to the health and viability of the industry, but the same holds true for the tech sector as well. If anything, attracting the likes of Mark and Alex is perhaps even more important as I believe that the future of the commercial real estate lies in embracing tech. These guys are the real deal. They have the drive, hunger, passion and ideas to build something truly spectacular.
I recently caught up with Poonam at our SF event this Spring and was so pleased to see how StealthForce continues to grow and evolve. StealthForce is the gig economy of real estate. They deploy an army of industry veterans, from junior through C-level, both moonlighting and employed, for project-based consulting on demand, and the company earns a portion of each engagement.
Talk about high energy and passion, my man Turner exudes this and more! I had the great pleasure of meeting him at our SF event and was really impressed. Tuner and his team are focused on the commission accounting side of the residential and commercial business.
One of the really cool things about my job is all of the new people and companies I get to meet in the CRE tech space. Literally everyday. And one particular company recently caught my eye.. Abhinav Somani, Managing Director of North America for LEVERTON
Another one of these hugely successful real estate tech companies I never heard of that are doing killer business under the radar screen. I had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth at RealComm in San Diego.
Recently caught up with my good friend Jeff Finn at RealNex. I have known Jeff for many years and always been really impressed by his ability to really understand where markets are headed and to build products and solutions to meet market needs.
The journey from one of the world's leading poker players to a successful career on Wall Street and now to VR/AR robots is one of the more interesting I have personally encountered. And that's the story of Bryan Colin, the founder/CEO of VirtualAPT.
Susie is a quintessential entrepreneur. Risk taker. Company builder. Visionary. Her background has always been in tech. She was part of the founding team at WhitePages.com, a company focused on building global digital identity data, serving 55M monthly consumers as well as Fortune 100 companies.
WOW! Real Capital Markets (RCM) is the real deal! It’s one of those companies I didn’t really know well, and I should have. They are doing big business with over 300,000 customers to date who have used the platform to generate over $1.8 trillion in transactions on line. Yes, that’s a TRILLION!!! And according to stats I saw, over 50% of all U.S. commercial assets sold, over $10 million, are brought to market using Real Capital Markets’ online marketplace annually.
