I recently had the opportunity to catch up with David and learn more about his site, Planned Grocery. Really amazing stuff! David’s background is in retail real estate focussing on location analysis and marketing. The concept for Planned Grocery was conceived when he and his business partners realized that more and more clients were tracking their competition’s planned locations. This data was not only hard to find but there were literally no other companies nationwide that were collecting this data. After 2 years of building a database that shows where grocery stores are either proposed, planned, under construction or recently built in the last six months Planned Grocery was launched in 2016 and now has grown to over 45 clients.

David is most excited about the new version of the platform that will be launching in early 2018. Planned Grocery 2.0 will have a new look and for the first time they will include parcel data with ownership information. They are also building in the option for users to get email alerts on when they add new points to the platform. Future plans include the option for users to create their own layers that are saved in the platform for only them to see. Planned Grocery will be in New York for ICSC’s New York National Deal Making (Booth #3039) as well as attending CRE // Tech New York!
